ABOUT THE CAR The Lotus 49 is the Formula 1 car designed by Colin Chapman and Maurice Philippe for Team Lotus (1967–1970). Powered by the Cosworth DFV, it was the first F1 car to use the engine as a fully stressed chassis member. Graham Hill took it to the 1968 world titles, and Jim Clark raced the 49 in 1967, adding to his legend. One of the most important F1 cars ever built.
