Gamer — Painting Artificial Blue Light from a Monitor
In this tutorial, I paint Gamer from start to finish, focusing on how artificial blue light from a monitor affects a figure and the surrounding environment.
The challenge with strong colored light is that it tends to make everything monochromatic — blue light turns everything blue, and you lose all the local color. In this session I work through how to balance a colored light source, so it reads as atmospheric without killing the color underneath.
I talk through my decisions as I work, explaining how to handle cool dominant light, how it kills warm tones, and how to use that contrast to create atmosphere and mood.
This is a full, uninterrupted process with voice-over, including adjustments and course corrections along the way.
