CROWN HALL BY MIES VAN DER ROHE
Crown Hall, designed by the German architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, is the seat of the College of Architecture of the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois. The building is configured as a free space contained in a rectangular shape on two levels. It is an exempt volume with its four glass facades, surrounded by a large green area, with large trees, mainly on the south facade. The glaze on all sides allows the Faculty not to turn its back on the rest of the buildings, respecting the context. It is characterized by an aesthetic of industrial simplicity, clearly exposed in its steel frames.
