It is often known by the synonym Platanus × hispanica. This tree is a large deciduous tree that is quite resilient in urban conditions. This hybrid tree resulted from a cross between two sycamore species: Platanus occidentalis (American sycamore) and Platanus orientalis (Oriental plane).
