Set of Phyllostachys aurea Plants Fishpole bamboo
6 Phyllostachys aurea plants in the scene. Phyllostachys aurea is a species of bamboo, and is of the running bamboo type, belonging to the diverse Bambuseae tribe. It is native to Fujian and Zhejiang in China. The species name 'aurea' and the Dutch name golden bamboo refer to the color of the stems of this bamboo. The color of the young twigs is still green, but it changes to yellow-green. The sunnier this bamboo is, the yellower (and golder) the trunks become. Bamboo also has a quirk: once every 40 to 100 years, the bamboos bloom worldwide. This will take approximately 10 years.
