Roxy's Corel Painter Layout File
What's Included:
Roxys Brush Creator.xml
This is the brush creator layout file that I mention in my YouTube series: Create Any Brush in Corel Painter. It was created in Corel Painter 2021, but I have had confirmation that it works in Corel Painter 2019 and Corel Painter 2020 as well.
Roxys Brush Creator 2022.xml
This is the brush creator layout file that I mention in my YouTube video Help With Corel Painter Bugs. It was created in Corel Painter 2022, and won't work in lower versions, because it contains panels that were introduced in 2022.
Roxys Brush Creator 2023.xml
This is a brush creator layout file made in Painter 2023. It won't work in lower versions, because it contains panels (Fluid Paint and Color Selection) that were introduced in 2023.
Version
Roxys Brush Creator Layout v 1.1 CHANGELOG 1.1 Bug with navigator panel not opening in version 22 solved & recreated the layout for 2019 specifically to solve a panel issue.
Compatibility & Installation:
Please note that this was created in Windows (Win 10 to be exact), so may not work in all other environments.
- If you have never saved a layout in Corel Painter before, you first need to do so, in order for Painter to create the folder that the layout file goes into. To do that, open Painter and go to Windows > Layout > Save Layout, type anything and click ok. Then close Painter.
- Copy the XML file from the folder that relates to your version of Corel Painter and paste it into the layout folder on your computer. It's location differs depending on a few factors:
Windows... On Windows, it is typically here: C/Users/{YourUserName}/AppData/Roaming/Corel/Painter{version number}/Default/Framework If you save Corel to another drive, it might D/... or some other letter If you previously saved a custom workspace, then the folder won't be called 'Default' but rather whatever your workspace is called.
Mac...
On Mac, it is typically here:
- Now you can open Painter and select the layout by going to Windows > Layout and selecting Roxy Brush Creator
Troubleshooting
I'm told that on a Mac, the panels might open up in the middle of the screen. Just move them to the right hand side and resave the layout (Windows > Layout > Save Layout)
If the panels don't show up for you, it might be that your monitor resolution is smaller than what I designed for (1920x1080). To solve the issue, you can increase your resolution and then drag the layout files inwards, change your res back and saqve as a new layout file.
Alternatively one of my YouTube viewers (PJ Lightning) offered the following solution:
"I went through and changed every <palette bounds="x: 1594; to <palette bounds="x: 1149; and saved as a new name. That brought the panels where I could see them so then I just dragged them to a better position and saved the new layout."
