Enameling on gold and silver is the art of forming enamel on it from the combination of metal oxides and several types of salts in the vicinity of high heat (750 to 850 degrees Celsius). that colors are created over time and based on temperature. Today, in Iran, the enamelware production center of Isfahan city and prominent masters are engaged in the production of enamel works. The history of this art in Iran dates back to the Achaemenid period and underwent a major transformation during the Sassanid period. According to many art history researchers, this period is the peak of the flourishing of enamel art and they believe that the enamelers of Byzantium and then other foreign countries developed this art. With its excellent and amazing features, they learned from Iranian artists in the Sasanian period.

The products of this art are produced in many parts of Iran; But Isfahan is considered the center of Iran's enamel production and it houses prominent masters in this field.
