In ancient Greek stories, Aphrodite was born from the sea, the waves covering her naked body turned into white roses falling to the ground, creating red roses. That was the moment when Adonis, the handsome young man she loved was attacked by a boar. While running to save him, she was scratched by the thorns of a rose bush, her blood made the flowers turn white to red.
