The process of painting a large oil painting sometimes starts with a smaller, simpler gouache study which is what I'm showing here. It's a beginning, not the end.

In this tutorial I go over some basic concepts such as value structure of the artwork, colour temperature and the 5 types of light.

These concepts apply equally well to digital work so you will get something out this even if you don't paint traditionally.
