INK Brushes - Manga Inkers and Lettering

INK brushes - Manga, Inkers and Lettering.

A collection of brushes i created to simulate ink brushes, mostly for manga, but also good for other artistic needs.

It is organized into several groups, which refer to each type of tool we use when drawing.

  1. Markers Pens.
  • Marker iBrush. Two fine markers ideal for inking, and a filler brush with a texture (for black fill, shading and colors).
  • Round markers. Classic round markers, but emphasizing a “dry” look. Ideal for writing.
  • Rectangular Markers. Four different markers with its variations. Also, ideal for writing.
  1. Circular Tip - Ink Brushes. Two different circular brushes and my B-800 Brush, an all-rounder brush i use with ultra high DPI needs, with a very natural look.

  2. Irregular Tip - INK Brushes. A set of brushes for coloring and writing, very versatile (very good for onomatopoeias).

  3. Old INK Brushes. Another versatile set that simulates the result offered by old brushes. The “water” versions are also ideal for painting or coloring.

  4. Super BLACK - Manga. Created for manga uses, with three fine brushes for a natural line art and the rest for writing and painting. There is also a sub-set with “grunge” brushes that offers a dirty look, ideal for writing onomatopoeias or painting.

  5. Sponge INK - Fillers. Two versatile brushes, for filling or painting.

  6. Water INK. Water-based ink, for ink or color fills.

  7. Flat INK Brushes. A set of brushes with different tips for painting or color filling.

  8. Rake INK Brushes. A set of six brushes with different raking effects. Fine, wet and lightly loaded.

  9. INK lines. A quick solution for creating “speed lines” with a black background. A huge time saver.

NOTE: The brushes were created so that they would not “break” when scaled up or resized. The vast majority work great with a high brush radius, including the line-art brushes.

If you are looking for a more purist set of brushes, for manga inking, I recommend you to look at my other line-art brush set. It covers inking, whether it is for very sharp lines, with strong anti-aliasing (smooth), without anti-aliasing or with a natural look on paper.

Brushes can be imported into Clip Studio Paint EX/PRO without problems, but you may have to touch the pressure curve in brush settings. I recommend exporting in Photoshop the brushes you like best individually, as importing them all takes quite some time and often imports with errors.
