• WING & TAIL — for wing flight and covert feathers, as well as tail feathers;
  
• FLUFF & FILOpluma — for soft down and fine, tufted feathers in close-up work;
  
• DRAW a PLUME — dynamic brushes for drawing individual feathers in your preferred shape and style, rather than entire feather groups.
  

These brushes render the feathers themselves, so they work best over a darker or even nearly black base that serves as the shadow beneath the plumage.

* BTW, the skin, beak, background, and some final strokes are painted using my "The Perfect Oils" brushes for Procreate.

Most brushes are arranged in visually distinct groups of four by function.

The arrows in each brush name indicate the stroke direction for a bird in a conventional upright orientation:

• LEFT Side ↓ — a brush for the left-side edges of a body;
  
• RIGHT Side ↓ — a brush for the right-side edges of a body;
  
• WITH Flow ↓ — a main fill brush used along the direction of feather growth;
  
• CROSS Flow → — a central fill brush used across the direction of feather growth.
  

Some groups may include more than one brush of a particular type. A few brushes follow a different structure, primarily those in the WING & TAIL set and the dynamic DRAW a PLUME collection.

Build the plumage in stages.

Use intermediate layers, add cast shadows beneath overlapping groups of feathers, and always consider light, shadow, and underlying form. This set is designed to make “dressing” your creatures in feathers faster and easier—but the final result still relies on the artist’s eye, judgment, and skill.
